MEPC has been granted a new planning consent for over 2m sq ft of commercial development on its 131 acre site at Silverstone Park.
Consent was granted by South Northamptonshire District Council and Aylesbury Vale District Council.
Construction is underway at Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership’s Enterprise Zone at Westcott Venture Park, to create a new facility for Reaction Engines to test its revolutionary Synergetic Air‐Breathing Rocket Engine (SABRE), which is designed to unlock the future of space travel and hypersonic flight.
Owner, Rockspring Property Investment Managers LLP (“Rockspring”), is developing six acres of the 650-acre site, which is between Bicester and Aylesbury for a new test facility and assembly building for Reaction Engines Limited. This is the first milestone in a two-year development pipeline which will enable tests of the core of the revolutionary air-breathing rocket engine to begin in 2020.
Buckinghamshire Advantage, the delivery arm of Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership (BTVLEP), has today (6th April) submitted amendments to its outline planning application for the Aylesbury Woodlands site, which includes additional content to improve further the Aylesbury Woodlands offer to ensure it meets the needs of the local population, business and the environment.
Aylesbury Woodlands, part of the Aylesbury Vale Enterprise Zone, is an extensive site to the east of Aylesbury, and is proposed to include commercial premises, road infrastructure, housing and leisure facilities.
The Satellite Applications Catapult, supported by the Buckinghamshire & Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership, is establishing a 5G Resilient Communications Centre at the Westcott Venture Park in Buckinghamshire. The Centre will give platform and applications developers access to the latest 5G equipment without having to make a substantial upfront investment in expensive infrastructure, allowing them to rapidly prototype and commission new services and applications under representative real-world conditions ahead of market roll-out. The Westcott Centre will work closely with the 5G Innovation Centre based at the University of Surrey to ensure strategic alignment and adoption of common standards.
The UK Government has awarded Silverstone Park ‘Enterprise Zone’ status which could save companies locating to the high-tech business estate more than £250,000 in rates relief across the next five years.
The status was approved following a successful bid to Government by Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership (BTVLEP) and Silverstone Park developer MEPC.
MEPC has completed its latest speculative development of 125,000 sq ft of industrial units at Silverstone Park on time and on budget. The units range in size from 5000 sq ft to 30,000 sq ft under one roof and 50% of the scheme is already under offer.

Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership (BTVLEP) and partners, are delighted with this week’s announcement that The UK Space Agency is investing £4.12m in a National Propulsion Test Facility at Westcott, near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, giving the UK a new facility for space technology testing.
The area around Silverstone is home to significant business activity across the field of high performance technology and motorsport (HPTM). This displays many of the attributes of an adaptive and knowledge rich cluster. Some HPTM firms are very high profile. However, many more are nested within motorsport supply chains and/or, increasingly, developing products, services and know-how across the spectrum of high performance technology.
